Two Arrested In Connection With Man Crushed By Bin Lorry
Two men have been arrested in connection with the death of a homeless man who was crushed in a refuse collection lorry.
Henryk Piotrowski, a Polish national, was asleep inside a recycling bin when it was collected by a refuse lorry. The bin was empty into the lorry and the contents crushed. It wasn't until the lorry had returned to the depot and emptied its contents that Mr Piotrowski's body was discovered.
While concluding that he had died as a result of being crushed by the lorry, a post-mortem examination also found the Mr Piotrowski had suffered injuries before being tipped in to the back of the lorry.
It is understood that the investigation into Mr Piotrowski's death is not a murder case, but gardaí want to established the timeframe between a suspected assault and him entering the bin.
Gardaí this morning arrested a Polish man and woman in connection with the investigation and they are being held at Crumlin Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
