Figures Reveal Amount Spent On Alcohol During Abortion Vote

Figures obtained by the Irish Independent have revealed that the Dáil bar baill for the night of the abortion bill debate totalled almost €1,500.

The trading rules of the bar became the focus of controversy when Fine Gael TD for Cork East Tom Barry was seen on the chambers live video feed pulling fellow Cork deputy Aine Collins into his lap.

Figures from the bar on the night of the debate reveal that a total of 313 alcoholic drinks were bought. They breakdown as follows"

• 179 pints of Guinness and lager were consumed, costing €1,440.80

• €170.50 was spent on 31 quarter bottled of wine

• €145.70 was spent on 31 long neck bottles of beer

• €118.90 was spent on 29 vodkas and gin

• €94.60 was spent on 22 pints of Smithwicks

• €85 was spent on 17 brandys

A second receipt for food and drink bought in the visitors bar, where senators and TDs would entertain guests, totalled €3,572.
