US Style Child Beauty Pageant Cancelled By Venue

A controversial US child beauty pageant has lost its venue the day before the event was due to take place.

Universal Royalty Beauty Pageant had kept its location a secret after previous hotels it had tried to book for the pageant wouldn't allow them to hold the event.

Due to take place on Saturday the organisers had revealed that the child beauty competition would be held in the Bracken Court Hotel, Balbriggan, Dublin.

However, the hotel subsequently cancel the booking, leave the pageant without a venue.

The hotel claim that when the booking was made organisers "did not identify the true nature of the event", and went on to say that such an event was "not in keeping with the family ethos of the business".

The event has caused controversy since it was announced that they would holding the child pageant in Dublin.

It is understood that the company have been unavailable for comment about the last minute cancellation.

Bookings Up For Irish Family-Owned Hotels
New figures released today show that bookings in Irish family-owned hotels have increased in the first two months of this year. Irish Country Hotels, a collection of 26 family-owned hotels in Ireland, show a 21% increase in bookings for January and February compared to the same period in 2011.
