NCH Doctors Refuse Proposal Ballot

Non-consulting hospital doctors have rejected the proposed ballot over proposals aimed at ending "dangerous" working hours.

The junior doctors say that the proposals do not provide enough of the guarantees that trainee doctors need.

A strike due to be held tomorrow has also been suspended.

The proposals, which sought to lay out a timetable for ending long working hours and implementing an EU directive on working hours, was put forward by the Labour Relations Commission, but the doctors have rejected a move to ballot on the proposals.

It is understood that the IMO doctors will meet again this week to discuss the proposals further.
