Protesters Stall Eviction Of Family In Co Cork

A group of around 100 protesters have stalled the eviction of a family of five in Co Cork.

Around 100 members of Anti-Eviction Ireland Taskforce and Independent Resistance Ireland gathered outside the property in Ashdale, Dun an Oir, Kanturk on Tuesday morning tp prevent the sheriff from enforcing an eviction order.

It is understood that the eviction order was issued against the family despite offers from them to continue making payments on the sub-prime mortgage but at a reduced rate.

According to reports the sheriff attended the property yesterday but did not attempt to enforce the order due to the number of people present.
