Gardaí Renew Appeal Over Radioactive Burglary

Gardaí in Swords, County Dublin have renewed an appeal to warn the public of radioactive material that was taken during a burglary in the town over the weekend of 27 to 29 September.

The radioactive material is described as seven lightning preventers contained in a red metal box.

They have the appearance of aluminium or stainless steel but are of no scrap value.

Gardaí have described the items as "highly dangerous" and have warned the public not to approach or touch the objects.

If any person discovers these items or has any information as to where they are, they should contact Gardaí at Swords 6664700 or any Garda Station or contact the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland on 01 2066913 or 01 269 7766 (Out of office hours – 0879163364).

Gardaí have announced they have been in contact with Slovak authorities over yesterday's arrest of a man in connection with the recovery of an explosives find. The man, who is believed to be Slovakian, was been arrested after a small quantity of high-grade commercial explosives was found at an apartment in Dublin's Dorset St.

Tests May Show Park Body Is Romanian
