Irish Teenager Killed In New York

An Irish teenager has been killed in New York after being knocked down by a car, RTÉ has reported.

It is understood Kalie Gill, 15, and her family moved to New York from Fenagh, Co Leitrim, earlier this year.

Kalie and her sister Lindsey, 12, who is was critically injured in the incident, had been attending a church fundraising event in the Yonkers neighbourhood on Friday night when they were hit by the vehicle.

A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs said they have been contacted by relatives in Ireland and, if requested, will provide consular assistance.
