Independent Investigation Into Dublin Bus Dispute Published
The findings of an independent investigation into how to secure the future of Dublin Bus have been published.
The independent team was appointed after a number of proposals were rejected by bus drivers, who are in dispute with the company of cost-saving measures.
The investigation team found that third-party intervention would not help resolve the matter, that industrial relations procedures have been exhausted and that its recommendations "are the best that can be achieved".
It is understood that the report's recommendations are based on previous recommendations made by the Labour Court.
These include suggestions on issues such as spare drivers, revenue protection, the working time directive, and travel/walking time.
The report claims that its recommendations are "the best that can be achieved in the current financial circumstances", adding that further concessions would "fatally undermine the company's cost saving plan".
Unions representing drivers, SIPTU and the NBRU, have been urged to endorse the report.
