New Science Centre Opens At UCD

The €175 million O'Brien Centre for Science has opened at University College Dublin.

The new state-of-the-art science centre will house 2,500 undergraduate and postgraduate students along with research and academic staff.

The opening marks completion of the second stage of a €300 million investment funded by the State and philanthropic donations. Stage three of the plan is currently seeking planning permission.

Dublin's Earlsfort Terrace has been announced as the location for a new interactive national science centre. State-owned premises adjacent to the National Concert Hall will become the home of the Exploration Station, which if being developed by the Irish Children’s Museum Ltd.

Festivals And Events Across Ireland For National Science Week
Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) have announced an investment of almost €480,000 to support festivals and events across the country as part of national Science Week (SW). A total of 13 festivals and 13 unique events will be held between 10th - 17th November, with this years SW theme being climate action.

Ford And Shatter Sign Forensic Services Agreement
The first meeting of the Intergovernmental Agreement on Cooperation on Criminal Justice Matters since the Assembly and Dáil elections, has been held in Armagh. Justice Minister David Ford and the Irish Minister for Justice, Equality and Defence, Alan Shatter, discussed a number of issues ranging from youth justice to support for victims of crime.
