Irishman Wanted In US On Child Porn Charges Seeks Irish Trial

An Irishman, wanted in the US and described by the FBI as "the largest facilitator of child porn on the planet" has made a submission to be tried in Ireland.

Eric Eoin Marques is wanted in the US on four four counts involving the advertising of child pornography, distribution of child pornography, conspiracy to advertise child pornography, and conspiracy to distribute child pornography.

According to reports Marques is seeking to make a submission to the Director of Public Prosecutions on Section 15 of the Extradition Act, which relates to not extraditing a defendant when the alleged offence was committed in Ireland.

The DPP is considering a criminal file in the case.

Dublin Man Charged With Making Child Pornography
A Dublin man arrested following an international investigation has appeared in court charged with making child pornography. A Gardai spokesman said the investigation had involved police forces in the North as well as other parts of the UK and the United States.
