Gardaí And HSE To Produce Reports On Roma Children Removals

Reports on the cases of two children removed from Roma families are to be produced by the gardaí and the Health Services Executive for the Minister for Justice and Minister for Children.

Minister for Children Frances Fitzgerald said the reports would then be referred to Emily Logan, the Ombudsman for Children.

Minister Fitzgerald was responding to increasing calls for an independent inquiry, adding that there is a need for a detailed review "of precisely what had happened" while ensuring that people continue to report child protection issues.
