Cannabis Regulation Bill 2013 To Be Published

Roscommon TD Luke "Ming" Flanagan has published a bill calling for the legalisation of cannabis.

Introducing the Cannabis Regulation Bill 2013, Flanagan has said that he believes, "Ireland is ready for the legalisation of cannabis".

According to Mr Flanagan, it is estimated that the tax revenues of the legalisation of cannabis could generate up to €300 million.

The purpose of the Bill, as stated in the the bill, is: "This Bill is to provide for the regulation of cannabis for medicinal and recreational use. The Bill also provides for the establishment of a Cannabis Regulation Authority and also addresses a range of other matters, including the licensing of the cultivation and sale of cannabis."

Flanagan will present his Bill to the Dáil on November 06.

Dáil To Debate Land And Conveyancing Reform (Amendment) Bill 2013
The proposed Land and Conveyancing Reform (Amendment) Bill 2013 is to be debated at the Dáil. If enacted the Bill would substantially enhance legal protections for pressurised mortgage holders and make it harder for the banks to repossess homes.
