Jobless Figure Drops Below 400,000 For First Time In Four Years

New Central Statistics Office figures reveal that the number of people claiming jobseekers allowance has fallen below 400,000 for the first time in four years.

A fall of more than 10,000 has been recorded for the number of people on the Live Register, now standing at 397,000, down from 408,670 last month.

The figure was last below 400,000 in May 2009.

It is understood that the falling number of people claiming jobseeker benefits has given the government confidence that the number of jobs are growing.

It is also expected that the new lower jobless figure will have a positive impact on calculating the year's budget.
