Fewer Irish Teens Using Ask.fm Website
There has been a fall in the number of Irish teenagers using social networking website Ask.fm, according to a new survey.
The research, which was carried out by anti-bullying service Bully4u.ie, found that of the 40% of nine to 12-year-olds that had used the site, only 8% were still found to be using it.
The controversial website was heavily criticised last year after it was linked to the deaths of Erin Gallagher and Ciara Pugsley. Earlier this year, the site again faced severe criticism over cyberbullying worries.
Jim Harding, from Bully4U.ie, is quoted by BreakingNews as saying: "I think the high-profile tragedies galvanised the media and the media really took this as a champion cause and created a lot of awareness.
"That awareness trickled down to schoolchildren, but also schoolchildren are being influenced by their parents."
