Property Rent Prices Continue To Rise

The cost of renting a property continues to increase, according to a new report by Daft.ie.

The quarterly review shows rent has risen nationally, with the capital experiencing the largest growth in prices.

Nationwide, the year-on-year increase in the average rent surged to 4.8% between the months of July and September, up from 4.2% the previous quarter.

In Dublin, rents are almost 8% higher than a year ago, while Cork and Galway also experienced larger increases in rent between 3% and 4%. In Limerick, rents are 1.8% higher when compared to last year's figures.

The cost of the average nationwide rent is €824, but this jumps to €1,150 in Dublin.

Waterford was found to be the only exception to the trend, with rent prices continuing to fall.
