Fuel Laundering Plant Uncovered In Portlaw
A fuel laundering plant has been uncovered by Gardaí and Revenue officers on a commercial property in Portlaw, Co Waterford.
According to reports the plant had the capacity to launder some 10 million litres of fuel annually, which represents a potential loss to the Exchequer of around €5 million.
Work to dismantle the site, which was found at the weekend, began on Monday night.
Gardaí are investigation operations at the site but no arrests have yet been made.

Two Held Over Fuel Laundering Plant
Two men have been arrested in Monaghan on suspicion of running a fuel laundering plant. Revenue officers and Gardaí raided the operation at commercial premises in Glaslough last night. The two men where arrested at the scene, one aged 33 the other aged 34, both from Northern Ireland.

Fuel Laundering Operation Hits Water Supplies
Illegal fuel laundering is doing more damage than just costing the Exchequer lost revenue. It emerged yesterday that damage in Co Tyrone, at Aughnacloy Wastewater Treatment Works (WwTW), was caused by by-products of a suspected fuel laundering operation - where agricultural 'red' diesel is stripped off the colouring and sold on as legitimate fuel.

An illicit plant with the capacity to produce more than two million litres of fraudulent diesel a year and evade £1.3m in excise duty per annum has been uncovered by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) in Co Down. The laundering unit was targeted by HMRC, accompanied by the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).

A man has been arrested and over 18 tonnes of toxic waste uncovered in the North, after the discovery of a diesel laundering plant in Co Antrim earlier this week by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC). HMRC, assisted by the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), searched a shed located on residential premises in the Crumlin area.
