Woman Faces Charge Of Assisting In Suicide

In what is thought to be the first prosecution of its kind in Ireland a Dublin woman is to face a charge of assisting the suicide of another woman.

It is alleged that between 10 March and 06 June 2010, Gail O'Rorke, aided, abetted, counselled or procured the suicide of 51-year-old Bernadette Forde in Dublin.

It is understood that 42-year-old O'Rorke, of Kilclare Gardens, Tallaght, denies the charge.

She is due to appear before Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on December 13 and faces up to 14 years in jail if found guilty.

She was remanded on bail on her own bond of €100.
