Local Property Tax Deadline Extended

The payment deadline for the Local Property Tax has been extended until 17.00 on Friday 29 November, following an "exceptional level" of filling in the last two days.

The Revenue Commissioners has also advised people attempting to get through to the Local Property Tax helpline to leave a message, saying that it will be recognised as an attempt to meet the deadline.

It is understood that some 70,000 calls have been made to the helpline since Monday.

First Local Property Tax Deadline Reached
The deadline for filing a written return for the Local Property Tax is today, with written returns postmarked for today accepted as 'on time'. It is understood that returns have been filed for over 300,000 properties. The next deadline is November 27 and will involve making a return online using property ID and PIN.

Sinn Féin To Push For Full 15% Local Property Tax Reduction
Dublin City Council will meet tonight (Monday) to discuss a possible reduction of the Local Property Tax, with Sinn Féin saying that they will push for the full 15% reduction allowed by government legislation.

Revenue Asking How You Plan To Pay Property Tax
Some 960,000 people are to receive a letter from the Revenue Commissioners asking them to indicate their preferred payment method for next year's collection of the Local Property Tax.
