CRC Chief Executive Quits

The Chief Executive of the Central Remedial Clinic (CRC) has quit following controversy over top-up payments.

Mr Brian Conlon resigned with immediate effect, after it was revealed that some money donated by the public was being used to top up the salaries of some staff.

Mr Conlon began the post in the summer. He was previously Chief Executive of the Mater Hospital.

Bord na Móna Propose New Reservoir In Co Laois
A 1,200-acre site near Portailington, Co Laois, could become a new water reservoir, storing a three-month supply of rain water. Bord na Móna say they are ready to apply for planning permission for the site, which would meet demands in the eastern region, according to RTÉ.

Irish Animators Praised At Italian Festival
An Irish animation company has been officially recognised in two categories at the prestigious showcase festival event. The Cartoons on the Bay Festival to be held this week in Rapallo, Italy. Kavaleer Productions' animated series Garth & Bev is one of the 33 animations from around the world to be recognised in the TV Series for Preschool category.

Hospital Blames Old Equipment For Backlog
Old equipment and a reduction in clerical staff are to blame for a backlog of thousands of radiology reports, Tallaght Hospital in Dublin has said. It is understood that currently there are around 6,000 scan reports waiting to be typed up, including adult X-rays, CT, MRI and ultrasound scans.

Fine Gael Cork South Central TD and Chairperson of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children, Jerry Buttimer, has said that the report of the Interim Administrator to the Central Remedial Clinic (CRC) exposes the former Board's attitude to spending public and charitable funding as it liked.
