Man Arrested Following Tullamore Shooting

Gardaí at Tullamore Co Offaly investigating a shooting incident at Cluain Darach yesterday evening have arrested a male.

At approximately 7pm on Sunday night a man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s were injured following a shooting incident outside a house in Cluain Darach, Tullamore by a lone gunman.

The gunman made his escape in a waiting car and the injured male and female were taken to the Midland Regional Hospital at Tullamore.

A vehicle was later found burned out near Durrow, Co. Offaly.

Early this morning Gardai from Tullamore arrested a male in his early 20s in the Offaly area. He is currently being detained at Tullamore Garda Station.

Women Arrested Over Emily Barut Murder
Gardaí have arrested a woman in her 50s this morning as part of an investigation into the murder of Emily Barut. 11-year-old Emily died at her home on Bachelors Walk, Tullamore on 15 September 2012. The woman is due to appear at Tullamore District this morning at 10:30 charged in relation to the investigation.

Tullamore Shooting - Man Released Without Charge
A man arrested in connection with a shooting incident in Tullamore on Sunday night has been released without charge. The arrest followed an shooting incident outside a house in Cluain Darach, Tullamore at about 19:00 on Sunday evening in which a male in his 30s and a female in her 20s were injured.

Man Arrested Following Cannabis Find
Gardai have arrested a man after 300 cannabis plants, worth around €250,000, were seized in Co Offaly. The plants were found at a house at Coolcur in Rhode on Wednesday. A 50-year-old male is currently being detained at Tullamore Garda Station.

Appeal Renewed Over Farrell Murder
An appeal for information over the murder of Matt Farrell in County Offaly has been renewed one year on. Gardai investigating the murder which, occurred at the Gaelic Bar in Daingean, on April 1 2009 said they are still looking for vital information from the public. The body of Matt Farrell, 64, was found in his pub on the morning of April 1.

€150m Laois Hospital Project Completed
The completion of a major building project to develop an Irish hospital has been welcomed. Funded under the National Development Plan at a cost of €150m and providing almost 1,000 jobs, the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore was declared open by the outgoing Taoiseach, Brian Cowen.
