Ryanair Standsted Flights Diverted

A number of Ryanair flights to Standsted Airport have been diverted due to a combination of technical problems with the landing system there and low visibility weather conditions, the airline has said.

A number of aircraft have already diverted to Birmingham, Luton, Gatwick and East Midlands airports and customers are being transferred by coach back to Stansted.

Further disruptions are expected until the situation is rectified.

Ryanair said further delays and possible cancellations may occur due to the equipment failure.

The airline said it "sincerely apologises to affected customers for the inconvenience."
