Ryanair Sue Pilots Group And Union
The IMPACT trade union, the Irish Airline Pilots Association (IALPA) and IALPA president Evan Cullen are being sued by Ryanair over public comments alleging that the airlines fuel policy affects its safety practices.
The airline has said that the comments were defamatory.
It is claimed that the defamation came out of comments made by Evan Cullen in an RTÉ News at One interview on August 16, 2012, and in a Sunday Time article published in September that same year.
It is understood that the two interviews dealt with claims made by the Spanish consumer association, which accused Ryanair of putting passengers at risk after three of its planes made emergency landings on the same day in July 2012 at Valencia airport.
The hearing is ongoing.
