Woman Killed By Falling Tree in Co Westmeath

Gardaí in Co Westmeath have confirmed a 23-year-old woman has died after a tree fell on her car.

The incident happened at around 4pm as the woman was driving into Mullingar. The woman was trapped inside her car by the tree, which came down in high winds.

Emergency services managed to free the woman from her car but she died a short time later at the Midland Regional Hospital.

It is understood that the fallen tree has been removed and the road has been reopened.

Dublin Woman Killed By Falling Tree
A woman in Dublin has been killed by a tree felled during yesterday's high winds. The woman died after she was struck by the falling tree while walking on Waterloo Road in the Capital. The accident happened shortly after 5pm. The woman was taken to St Vincent's Hospital but was she pronounced dead on arrival.

Woman Killed In Kerry Collision
A woman has been killed after her car hit a tree near the Ring of Kerry. Her eight-year-old daughter was also in the car and has been taken to hospital. Her injuries are not believed to be serious. A full technical examination is currently being carried out.

Windy Weather Batters North
While the North hasn't seen any such tragedy as yesterday's Dublin fatality, heavy rain and gusts of up to 60mph have been battering Northern Ireland overnight and into today. The Met Office said there was no 'weather warning' in place but that NI should expect a wet and windy couple of days, with better to come on Sunday.

Body Of Missing Woman Frankie Devlin Found
Gardaí have reported that the body of Frankie Devlin was recovered on Wednesday 9 October. Ms Devlin (67) was reported missing on Saturday 5 October and a search operation had been ongoing. The discovery was made on the same day that garda had renewed an appeal for information on the whereabouts of Ms Devlin.
