92-Year-Old In Critical Condition After Explosion

A 92-year-old woman is in critical condition following a gas explosion at her Dublin home.

Bridget Berry is reported to have suffered second and third degree burns in an explosion in the kitchen of her flat at O'Rahilly House at around 22:15 on Wednesday night.

The pensioner is currently being treated at St Vincent's Hospital but it is understood that she may be moved to the burns unit at St James's Hospital.

An investigation into the cause of the explosion is underway.

Four Girls In Hospital After Aerosol Explosion
Garda are investigating the circumstances surrounding four girls ending up in hospital after an aerosol exploded in a house in Drogheda on Sunday. The girls are being treated in hospital, two in Crumlin's children's hospital and two in Tallaght, following the incident. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The explosion, which was conducted on a reportedly 'unstable substance' found in one of the hospital's laboratories on Wednesday evening, was carried out at 6:30am on Thursday.

Man Critical After Dublin Shooting
A man is in a critical condition after being shot several times in Dublin. The shooting happened at a house on Stannaway Road in the Crumlin area in the early hours of Monday morning, 22 August. The man, aged in his 30s, is being treated at St James's Hospital. Gardaí have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Nurses At St Patrick's Hospital Vote For Industrial Action
Psychiatric nurses at St Patrick's Hospital in Dublin have voted in favour of industrial action. The dispute is in relation to the unilateral closure of the facility's defined benefit pension scheme. Strike action will begin on Wednesday, 24 May.

Minister Harris Urged To Explain St. James' Hospital Situation
The Minister for Health Simon Harris has been asked to explain why St. James' Hospital does not have the resources needed to replace its existing ERCP diagnostic machine. Fianna Fáil Health Spokesperson, Billy Kelleher, also called on the Minister to provide the support required by the hospital.
