New Bill Sees ESB Enter Broadband Market

High-speed internet is to be rolled out to more than 500,000 homes across rural Ireland, with ESB entering the broadband market.

Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte introduced a new bill to the Dáil on Wednesday night allowing for the roll-out.

It is understood that the move is designed to ease the difficulties many parts of the country experience in trying to access high-speed broadband.

In addition, the new Bill will also allow ESB to enter the telecommunications market.
