High Court Orders Woman To Be Fed By Tube

The High Court has ruled that a 22-year-old woman suffering from anorexia should be fed by a tube.

It is understood the court heard that the woman is refusing nutritional feeds in hospital and will die if she does not receive treatment.

Describing the case as a life or death situation, High Court President Justice Nicholas Kearns made the order for the woman to be fed immediately and as her carers deemed appropriate.

It is understood that the woman's parents supported the application for the ruling, which was brought the HSE.
