Gardaí Investigate Horse Beaten To Death

An investigation has been launched in Co Wicklow after the discovery of the body of a badly beaten horse.

A walker reported finding the body in a clearing at Ballymoyle wood, near Kilpatrick, at around 15:15 on Thursday.

A local source is quoted by The Irish Times as saying that the horse looked like it had been beaten to death.

Gardaí are investigating.

Body Found In Co Donegal
Gardai have launched an investigation after a body was discovered in Bundoran, Co Donegal, this morning (25 April). The body, believed to be a man aged in his 60's or 70's, was found near the shore in the West End of the town. It is believed the body remains at the scene.

Garda Investigate Horse Burnt Alive In Tallaght
An investigation is underway after a horse was doused in petrol and burnt alive in the Killinarden area of Tallaght, Dublin. It is the latest in a number of incidents in the area in the last few days, gardaí have said. It is understood that the horse was set on fire in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Govt Urged To End Its Support Of Horse And Greyhound Racing Industry
The government has been urged to end its support of the horse and greyhound racing industry until "sufficient reform is implemented". Making the call, Sinn Fein spokesperson on Agriculture, Food and Marine expressed concern at the amount of public money being given to the industry.
