US Firm Returns To Ireland Bringing 500 Jobs

Up to 500 jobs could be created in Cork with the establishment of a new business services centre for Tyco, a multinational fire protection and security firm.

The US-based company, the largest of its kind in the world, had previously closed its manufacturing facilities in Ireland, with the loss of 500 jobs.

It has now committed to return to the State with a its new centre on Cork city.

Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton announced the investment, which is backed by IDA Ireland.

Online retailer Amazon is to create 500 new jobs over the next two years at a number of its Dublin facilities. The jobs will include data centre technicians, software engineers and customer support staff. The latest recruitment drive is part of Amazon's plans to create several thousand more new jobs in Europe.
