14-Year-Old Critical After Getting Head Trapped In Railings
A 14-year-old boy is in critical condition in Cork University Hospital after trapping his head in railings and cutting off his oxygen supply.
Gardaí have described how the teenager had been with friends at The Orchards estate at Compass Hill, Kinsale, Co Cork, when he fell ill and slumped on to the railing.
Leon Connon's head then became trapped in the railing and it cut off his oxygen supply.
It is understood that people responded to cries of help, using car headlights to illuminate the scene before freeing the teenager.
Once free it was discovered that he wasn't breathing.
Paramedics managed to get Leon breathing again before he was taken to Cork University Hospital.
He remains in critical condition in hospital.

His head and neck accidentally got wedged in the fence cutting off his oxygen supply.

Man Attacked In East Cork
Gardaí are appealing for information after a man in his 40s was attacked in east Cork on Tuesday. The victim was assaulted at Meat Shambles Lane in Youhal at around 3pm. He is currently being treated at Cork University Hospital, however his injures are not believed to be life-threatening. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

The Minister for Health will be given the power to stop suspended an institution if deemed to be operating the Act inappropriately.

Missing West Cork Man Found By Coastguard
A west Cork man reported missing on Monday night has been found "safe and well". Bantry Gardaí launched a search operation, assisted by the Coast Guard Helicopter and local coast guard units.

Man Seriously Assaulted In Galway
Gardai have launched an investigation after a man was seriously assaulted in Galway on Sunday. The attack, between a number of youths, happened outside a fast food outlet on Shop Street at around 3.30am. The victim sustained a serious head injury and is believed to be in a critical condition at the University Hospital Galway.
