Irish Dancing Commission Ban Make-Up For Under 10 Competitors

Make-up has been banned from Irish dancing competitions for under 10 year olds.

Irish Dancing Commission, an Coimisiun le Rinnci Gaelacha, has approved the ban, which extends to include the wearing of false eyelashes.

"Make-up (including false eyelashes) is not permitted for dancers, in either solo or team competitions, up to and including the under-10 age group. Effective March 1, 2014." the commission said in a post on its website.

In addition, the use of 'Artificial Carriage Aids', which are used by dancers to help keep their arms straight, has also been banned.

The commission said that this was being done in the interests of health and safety.
