Irish Architect Firm Wins Easter Rising Chapel Contract

Irish architectural firm O'Daly Architects has won the contract to design a chapel that will commemorate the 232 civilian victims of the Easter Rising.

An international competition was held for the contract with a total of 129 entries received.

Located in the St Paul's cemetery area of Glasnevin Cemetery, the €3m project is expected to be opened on the centenary of the Rising in 2016.

O'Callaghan Welcomes Decision To Return Easter Rising Banner
A decision by the Imperial War Museum in London to return the Na Fianna Éireann banner to Dublin has been welcomed by Fianna Fáil TD Jim O'Callaghan. The TD for Dublin Bath South began a campaign in July 2009 to have the banner returned after it had been seized in the aftermath of the Easter Rising.

SIPTU To Host Series Of 1916 Commemoration Events
SIPTU is to host a major programme of cultural events to commemorate the centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising, including a gala concert on Easter Saturday, 26 March, in Liberty Hall featuring performances by singers Christy Moore and Damien Dempsey, poet Paula Meehan and flute player, Matt Molloy.
