Hundreds Attend Funeral Of Jonny Byrne

Hundreds of people have attended the funeral mass of a man who died after being swept away in the River Barrow on Saturday night.

Jonathon 'Jonny' Byrnes body was recovered on Sunday morning.

The 19-year-old was taking part in a social media dare known as neknomination, which involves drinking a large amount of alcohol very quickly. Mr Byrnes jumped into the River Barrow after carrying out the dare.

The funeral mass was being held in St Lazerian's Church.

Calls have been made for an end to the Nekonomination craze.

It is understood that security checks will be carried out at St Nicholas of Myra church on Frances Street ahead of the funeral mass.

State Still Waiting For New Schools To Built From 2013
Fianna Fáil has criticised the Government over its "failure to get to grips with its own annual plans for the construction of new schools across Ireland over the last five years". Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Education and Skills, Thomas Byrne, said that construction is yet to even start on five schools which were first announced in 2013.

'Work is the best way out of poverty', Fine Gael has said, a statement it claims has been confirmed by the latest ESRI report. Making the comments Dublin South Central TD, Catherine Byrne, said that the report highlights that more must be done to incentivise and support people into work.
