Police Discover Body Near Leicester Square

Police believe a body found near Leicester Square could be missing Irish teenager Patrick Halpin.

The student, from Loughrea in Co Galway, went missing on a college trip to the English capital on Wednesday.

On Thursday, at around 7.50pm, police discovered a body in an area off Leicester Square close to the Zoo Bar and a Burger King outlet. It is understood this is the area the student had been visiting.

Patrick's sister has taken to Facebook, appealing for help in finding her brother.

In a statement, police said: "Although formal identification has yet to take place, we believe the body found last night close to Leicester Square is that of missing Irishman Patrick Halpin."

Police have launched an appeal after Irish teenager Patrick Halpin went missing in London shortly after midnight on Tuesday. The Irish student, who is originally from Galway, was last seen at The Zoo nightclub, just off Leicester Square in London. Patrick, a student at Dublin University, was in the city on a theatre trip with a drama club.

Body Found In Co Donegal
Gardai have launched an investigation after a body was discovered in Bundoran, Co Donegal, this morning (25 April). The body, believed to be a man aged in his 60's or 70's, was found near the shore in the West End of the town. It is believed the body remains at the scene.

Investigation Launched Into Fatal Stabbing At Dublin Home
An investigation has been launched into the the fatal stabbing of a man in Dublin on Monday afternoon. The victim, understood to be John Maguire (51), was found with fatal stab wounds to his back and neck. He was attacked at his home in Ormond Square, according to Gardaí.

Man Charged With Manslaughter Of James Tynan
A 23-year-old man has been charged in connection with the manslaughter of James Tynan, 25. The victim died after being assaulted on Liberty Square, Thurles on 19 February this year. He appeared before Thurles district court this morning.
