Gardai Seize Over €2m In Counterfeit Notes

Gardai have seized over €2m in counterfeit notes following an investigation into the activities of dissident republicans.

The €50 notes are believed to be in circulation around the country.

Printing paper was also discovered at the scene.

Three men were arrested during the operation and appeared in court this week.

Gardai are urging people to contact them if they have suspect notes.

Gardai are issuing advice to members of the public and shop owners, to be on the look out for counterfeit €100 notes. Officers are aware that since March, a number of counterfeit €100 notes have been in circulation and presented in retail outlets across the country.

Garda Arrest Man For Possessing Firearms
A man in his 20's has been arrested after firearms were found at a house in Darndale, Coolock. As part of a planned operation Gardai searched a house at Tulip Court on Thursday at around 17.15. Three firearms and a small amount of cannabis was discovered.

Gardaí In Waterford Issue Counterfeit Currency Warning
Retailers and consumers in Waterford have been warned that counterfeit €50 notes are known to be in circulation around the city. Gardaí issued the warning following a number of reports of the counterfeit currency being used around the city. Shop owners, staff and customers have been urged to check all €50 notes they receive.

Man Arrested In Connection With Deaths Of Elderly Brothers
A man has been arrested in connection with the discovery of the bodies of two elderly brothers at their home in Castlebar on Wednesday. A home-help for the brothers alerted gardai at around 07:00 after she arrived at their home and found their bodies.

Dublin Teenager Found 'Safe And Well'
A teenager who went missing from Dublin has been found "safe and well". Sean Costello, 15, went missing from Ballymun just after midnight on Sunday, 31 July. Gardai launched an appeal as they were concerned for his welfare. However, they have confirmed he has been found "safe and well". Gardai also thanked the public for their assistance.
