Weather Warnings Issued For Wind And Snow
Met Eireann has issued a status orange wind warning for the south and southwest of Ireland, taking in counties Wexford, Galway, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Waterford. This is in addition to a status orange warning for snow and ice in Co Donegal.
The forecaster say that westerly winds are expected to reach average speeds of 70 to 80km/h with gusts of up to 130km/h.
In Co Donegal, the forecaster has warned of wintry weather with some heavy snow, sleet and hail expected.

A status orange wind and snow warning has been issued by Met Éireann from 13:00 today (Thursday). The forecaster said that winds of up to 75 km/h are expected in coastal areas and this could increase up to 110 km/h later into the evening. The worst wind is expected in counties Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo and Clare.

Wind Farm Academy To Boost Donegal
A National Wind Energy Academy is being established at Letterkenny Institute of Technology as part of a €500,000 initiative being backed by the Donegal County Development Board. The first phase will see the development of a wind turbine maintenance programme which will be delivered in conjunction with BZEE, a German centre for renewable energy.

Status Yellow Wind Warning Issued
Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow wind warning for nine counties across the country. The warning was issued on Sunday at 14:00, but remains in place until 21:00, when it will be reviewed. Winds of 45-55 km/h with gusts between 90 and 100 km/h.
