Cabinet Approve Additional €70m For Weather Repairs
Funding of up to €70m is to be provided to carry out repairs of damage caused by the weather.
The Cabinet has approved the money, which is in addition to the €25m pledged by the government, to be supplied by the Department of Environment.
From the money, €16m will go towards roads, €19m on coastal protection, €7m on piers and harbours, and €6m on tourism infrastructure.
It is also understood that €12m will be allocated to other local authority and community infrastructure, while €10m will go towards transport and OPW infrastructure.

Further €1m Funding Package For Harbour Development Projects Unveiled
A further €1 million funding package has been unveiled to help deliver 16 harbour development projects by Coastal Local Authorities. A total of nine Local Authorities are carrying out 16 development and repair projects on harbours and slipways which are owned by them. The €1m package will be added to €2.

The Government has approved the establishment of a €200 million Local Infrastructure Fund. The fund will provide public off-site infrastructure to stimulate an increase in private housing in Dublin and in urban areas of high demand for housing.

Irish Water Money 'Better Spent On Infrastructure' - SF
Following the publication of a report revealing "dangerous levels" of lead in the Dublin water system, Sinn Féin Spokesperson on the Environment Brian Stanley has said that the "huge amounts of money being expended on Irish Water and water meters would be better spent addressing the problems of leaks and outdated infrastructure".

Irish Water 'More Concerned With Image Than Infrastructure' - FF
Fianna Fáil has criticised Irish Water for being "more concerned with its public image than ensuring water quality and infrastructure in improved". The party's Spokesperson on Environment, Bobby Cowen, made the comments following the news that the utility company spent more than €300,000 hiring four PR firms since January 2014.

Additional Funds Released For Storm Damage Repairs
Minister Simon Harris TD, Minister of State with special responsibility for the Office of Public Works, has confirmed that remaining funds – allocated to local councils last year for storm damage repairs, following the first period of severe weather in Winter 2013/2014 – is being divided out to the local authorities.
