Six Released Without Charge In Sexual Abuse Investigation

A report is to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions following the arrest of six people in an investigation of alleged systematic sexual abuse.

Officer from Dublin's Sundrive Road Garda Station are investigating allegations that a young girl was abuse over a five-year period. It is understood that the alleged victim is now 10-years-old.

The six people arrested under the investigation have since been released without charge.

Garda say that the investigation is ongoing.

Two-Year-Old Killed In 'Tragic Accident' In Co Galway
Gardaí in Co Galway have reported the death of a two-year-old boy in Ornamore on Monday night. It is understood that the boy was hit by a car in the driveway of his home at Derrydonnell at about 19:15. Garda say that the car was being driven by one of the child's parents. The child died a short time after arriving at University Hospital Galway.

Four Girls In Hospital After Aerosol Explosion
Garda are investigating the circumstances surrounding four girls ending up in hospital after an aerosol exploded in a house in Drogheda on Sunday. The girls are being treated in hospital, two in Crumlin's children's hospital and two in Tallaght, following the incident. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Garda Ombudsman Begins Investigation Following Man's Death
The Garda Ombudsman Commission is investigating the death of a man in Drogheda. The man, who was anted by gardai, is believed to have taken his own life. Neighbours in the North Quay area said they heard several bangs between 5am and 7am this morning. A post mortem is due to be carried out today.
