Strike Notice Served On Aer Lingus, DAA And SAA

SIPTU has served notice Aer Lingus and the Dublin and Shannon Airport Authorities will a notice of industrial action.

The union will hold a four-hour work stoppage at airports in Dublin, Shannon and Cork on 14 March between 5 and 9am.

The notice follows the breakdown of the most recent talks in a long-running pension dispute.

The union has said that it remains available for further talks, the strike action is being taken because "of the companies' refusal to engage in meaningful talks or to present reasonable or fair proposals to address the pensions problem."

DAA SIPTU Members Vote For Strike Action
SIPTU members of the Dublin Airport Authority have voted in favour if industrial action in a dispute over their pension scheme. The long-running dispute surrounds a deficit of around €780m in the Irish Aviation Superannuation Scheme, which covers workers in the DAA and Aer Lingus.

SIPTU Considers Timing And Nature Of Aer Lingus Action
SIPTU officials are to meet to decide on the timing and form of industrial action at Aer Lingus. It follows the breakdown of talks on the deficit in the joint pension scheme at the airline and the Dublin Airport Authority. The Labour Relations Commission adjourned the discussions, involving management and unions, indefinitely.
