Second H1N1 Flu Virus Case Confirmed In Cork

A second case of the H1N1 flu virus has been confirmed at a Cork Hospital.

Seven days after confirmation of the virus, commonly known as 'swine flu', at Cork University Hospital, a second case has been confirmed at Mercy University Hospital in the city.

Visiting restrictions have been put in place at the two hospitals in an effort to stop the virus from spreading. Specifically children are not allowed to visit any patients at either hospital.

Man Attacked In East Cork
Gardaí are appealing for information after a man in his 40s was attacked in east Cork on Tuesday. The victim was assaulted at Meat Shambles Lane in Youhal at around 3pm. He is currently being treated at Cork University Hospital, however his injures are not believed to be life-threatening. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Several significant changes have been made to the outline of the Bill, which was published in April. The Minister for Health will be given the power to stop suspended an institution if deemed to be operating the Act inappropriately.

Victims Of Cork Disaster Named
All those killed in yesterday's fatal plane crash in Cork have now been identified. A cousin of the President of the Irish Republic, Mary McAleese's husband was among the six people confirmed dead in Thursday's airplane crash in Cork.

CUH Confirm H1N1 Flu Case
Cork University Hospital have reported a confirmed case of the H1N1 flu virus, commonly known as swine flu. It is understood that other patients at the hospital are displaying symptoms of the virus but just one case has so far been confirmed. One ward has been closed and visitor restrictions are in place, the hospital have said.
