EPP Congress Illustrates Benefits Of Electing A Strong Team
Fine Gael Wicklow TD and Candidate for Ireland South, Simon Harris, has said that the EPP Congress, which is being held in Dublin, illustrates the benefit of electing a strong team of Fine Gael MEPs to the largest political grouping in the European Parliament.
An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, and the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, will be among the European leaders addressing the closing day of the event at the Convention Centre in Dublin today.
Mr Harris said: "Irish voters will face a number of choices on May 23rd at the local and European elections. Among them is whether you want to elect Irish representatives to the European parliament who can actually have a serious input and make a difference, or whether you want to elect individuals who simply object and achieve little.
"Fine Gael representatives elected to Europe will take their seats as part of the European People's Party; the largest and most influential political grouping in Europe. As we have seen at the event in Dublin over the last two days, the EPP includes 12 EU heads of state, 13 members of the European Commission and 73 member parties across 39 countries."
