Money Allocated For Work On 'Dubline' Tourism Trail
Over €600,000 is to be allocated to five key attractions along the 'Dubline', the new tourism trail through the city.
Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport Leo Varadkar has announced that €620,000 has been secured to further develop several key tourism attractions, including the restoration of the historic church bell which was the first Catholic Bell to ring in Dublin in breach of the Penal Laws.
The five projects are:
• St Werburgh’s Church - €200,000
• Dublinia €184,000
• Christ Church Cathedral - €188,500
• Tailor’s Hall - €29,040
• Smock Alley - €17,814
"Projects like this will boost the effectiveness of the Dubline project and give the city a competitive edge when it comes to attracting more overseas visitors to the city. This is not only good for tourism but also for businesses, retailers and jobs in the city," Minister Varadkar said.

SF Proposals On Tourism Are "Reckless And Irresponsible" - Troy
Sinn Féin's proposals for tourism in its alternative Budget 2017 are "reckless and irresponsible", according to Fianna Fáil's Spokesperson on Tourism, Robert Troy. Deputy Troy said plans by the party to increase the VAT rate on hotel beds are "dangerous" due to the "fragile state" of Ireland's tourism industry.
