Gardaí In Waterford Issue Counterfeit Currency Warning

Retailers and consumers in Waterford have been warned that counterfeit €50 notes are known to be in circulation around the city.

Gardaí issued the warning following a number of reports of the counterfeit currency being used around the city. Shop owners, staff and customers have been urged to check all €50 notes they receive.

Gardaí in the city are also investigating a number of robberies carried out in the last 48 hours.

It is understood that around 100 tyres were stolen from Low Cost Tyres on Park Road, alongside a reported break-in at St Catherine's Hall, a burglary of a house in Dunmore East and thefts from the Halal Food market on Park Road.

Gardai are issuing advice to members of the public and shop owners, to be on the look out for counterfeit €100 notes. Officers are aware that since March, a number of counterfeit €100 notes have been in circulation and presented in retail outlets across the country.

Counterfeit Uggs Worth €1m Seized In Cork
Counterfeit Ugg boots with an estimated value of €1 million have been seized by gardaí and customs officers in Cork. The counterfeit boots were found during a raid on an industrial unit in Hollyhill at about 10:30 on Thursday. Two men, aged 59 and 29, were arrested following the search.
