Police Investigate After Child Gets Locked In Ambulance

An investigation has been launched after a child was allegedly locked inside a broken down ambulance on its way to hospital.

It is understood that the ambulance was making its way to Temple Street Children's Hospital when a power failure caused all its doors to lock, trapping the driver, the child and the child's parents inside the vehicle.

A fire engine was needed to free those trapped inside from the locked ambulance.

Dublin Fire Brigade, which operates the city's ambulance services has launched an investigated into what caused the power failure.

It is reported that once freed the child was taken on to the hospital and successfully treated, returning home shortly afterwards.
