€6.5m To Be Spent On New Off-Road Cycle Route

A total of €6.5m is to be spent on the development of three new off-road cycling routes in Co Kerry, Galway and Waterford.

The development will see the former Great Southern Railway line on the Ring of Kerry converted into a 26km cycleway between Glenbeigh and Renard.

The other routes in the project are Galway city to Moycullen, and from Clonea through Kilmacthomas, and along the coast to Durrow in Co Waterford.

The money will be spent in nine towns – Birr, Claremorris, Ennis, Cavan, Sligo, Tralee, Thurles, Wexford and Clonmel – improving cycling infrastructure and laying cycling lanes.
