Local Authorities Struggle With Level Of Water Leaks

Local authorities are struggling to deal with water leaks, despite Irish Water saying that it will introduce a new approach to tackle the problem.

It is understood that the level of leaks across the State is putting pressure on treatment plants, according to a report by RTÉ.

Water leaks are said to be having an affect on the availability of drinking water, while also increasing costs to plants and customers.

According to Dublin City Council almost 40%, some 80m litres a day, of its water supply is lost per day.
