Rosie Hackett Bridge Officially Opened

The 21st bridge to be built spanning the Liffey in Dublin is to be officially opened today.

The newly named Rosie Hackett Bridge will connect Burgh Quay and Eden Quay, and is the first of the city's bridges to be name after a woman.

The bridge will be opened to the public from Wednesday morning, and used by pedestrians, cyclists and buses, with no cars, except taxis, allowed.

Trams will also use the bridge from 2017 when a new Luas interconnecting line is completed.
