Ciara Conway Contests Labour Deputy Leadership
Labour's Ciara Conway has announced she will stand for the position of deputy leader of the party.
The Labour TD for Waterford announced the news in Dungarvin, confirming that if she became deputy leader, she would not seek a junior or senior ministerial appointment.
There are now four candidates seeking the position, including TDs Alan Kelly, Michael McCarthy and Sean Sherlock.
Minister for Social Protection Joan Burton and the Minister of State at the Department of Health, Alex White, are seeking election as leader of the party, following Tánaiste and Labour leader Eamon Gilmore's announcement that he would be standing down from his position last week after disastrous results for Labour in recent elections.
He will remain in his role as Tánaiste until a new leader is appointed on 4 July.

Levies To Be Permanent Says Lenihan
The Finance Minister Brian Lenihan has said on national radio that the doubled income levies are to be made permanent taxes. Speaking on RTÉ's Today programme this afternoon, Mr Lenigan said the 2%, 4%, and 6% levies on lower, middle and higher earners would be fully integrated into the PAYE system by next December's budget.
