Women Take To Dublin Streets For Flora Marathon
Over 40,000 women are currently taking part in the Flora Women's Mini Marathon in Dublin today.
The event began at 14:00 this afternoon from Baggot Street Lower and road closures and traffic diversions are expected to be in place around the city centre until 18:00 this evening.
Organisers say 15,000 women will be running the race today, with the remainder walking the course. It is thought that over 800 charities are being represented at the event.
The route takes in Baggot Street, Pembroke Road, Merrion Road, Nutley Lane, Stillorgan Road, Donnybrook, Leeson Street Upper and Fitzwilliam Square.
Three marathon events are also taking place in Cork City today; a full marathon, a half marathon and team relay race.

The events participants hope to raise millions of euro for 400 different charities, with women taking part in the race from 3pm this afternoon. The race starts at Fitzwilliam Square and continues over 10km en route to St Stephen's green.

Dublin Prepares For Cold Snap
Dublin City Council has revealed a plan to make the city winter-ready. Last year snow and ice caused problems on the city's roads and footpaths. Over 2,350 tonnes of salt has been stockpiled and 1,155 more tonnes is being sought from the National Roads Authority to keep streets free of snow and ice.

Number Of Homeless Women On Dublin Streets Rises
The number of women facing homelessness in Dublin is significantly rising, according the Simon Community. One hundred and forty eight women sought help from the charity's "rough-sleeper" team in the first six months of this year, compared with 71 for the same period last year.

Safety Focus For Mobility Week
Irish people are being encouraged to walk, cycle or to avail of public transport, especially during European Mobility Week which is running until tomorrow. Gardaí are also upporting an 'In Town Without My Car' day as part of the initiative and are urging people to be safe, whatever method they chose, in supporting European Mobility Week.
