Union And Management Meet Over Bausch + Lomb Ultimatum
Talks were held this morning on the future of the Bausch + Lomb plant in Waterford, following an announcement that the plant would close if an agreement could not be reached over 200 job cuts and a 20% pay cut.
Management at the contact lens manufacturer met with union representatives at the Faithlegg House Hotel in Waterford.
It is understood that senior management for Bausch + Lomb's American parent company, Valeant, attended the meeting with a SIPTU delegation.

Bausch + Lomb Create 125 New Jobs
Bausch + Lomb has announced the opening of a new €85 million extension at the their Waterford facility, with the creation of 125 new jobs. Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, the parent company of Bausch + Lomb, has invested more than €200 million in the Waterford facility's operations, infrastructure and manufacturing line growth.

Senator Cullinane To Attend Meeting With SIPTU
Sinn Féin Senator David Cullinane will this afternoon attend a meeting between Waterford based Oireachtas members and SIPTU officials to discuss the announcement by Bausch and Lomb to seek 200 redundancies and a 20% pay cut for the remaining 900 staff.

Union Members Accept Bausch And Lomb Proposals
SIPTU members in Bausch and Lomb in Waterford have voted by 563 in favour to 157 against to accept cost saving proposals which management has stated will secure the long-term future of the plant. The agreement includes a wage reduction of 7.
