Exams Begin For 115,000 Students

Almost 1150,000 students have started their Leaving and Junior Certificate examinations this morning.

Some 55,000 students will sit their Leaving Cert, with a further 60,000 taking their first Junior Cert exams.

A number of measures have been put in place, such as additional staff, in an effort to reduce the number of errors recorded during the exam period last year.

USI Calls For Reassurance For Leaving Cert Students
The Union of Students in Ireland (USI) has extended its well wishes to Leaving Cert students on the beginning of their exams today. Approximately 60,000 Leaving Certificate candidates will begin their exams, taking the next step towards their future careers.

Teenager Charged In Connection With Dublin Stabbing
A 17-year-old youth charged this morning with the fatal stabbing of another teenager in Dublin last May has been remanded in custody at Dublin Children's Court. The boy, who cannot be named because of his age, was charged with the death of Sean Nolan, 18, from Griffith Court in Fairview.

124,000 Students Begin State Examinations
Around 124,000 students across Ireland have begun their Leaving Certificate and Junior Cycle examinations today, Wednesday 05 June. Exams will be overseen in over 5,000 centres across the country, with English being one of the first subject areas to be assessed.
